Seattle Cyclocross - Snohomish

A new venue for the Seattle Cyclocross Series! The races were held at a middle school in the quaint town of Snohomish. A muddy test of handling and power greeted the riders as the day wore on and the rain continued to fall and the course deteriorated. By the afternoon races, most of the rain had ended and in its wake there were several large sections of mud that were better ran than cycled through. Several long off-camber sections and some technical riding in the forest were a boon for the technically adept riders. There were also 2 sets of barriers, a short steep run-up and some sketchy downhills each lap that managed to slow the riders as their mud-caked machines continued to get heavier as the races wore on.

Ryan Iddings (REDLINE) showed his skills on the bike by easily winning over a very competitive field, running away with it by a large margin. Doug Reid (VELOCE CYCLES) demonstrated the same prowess as he won by half a minute over Tom Phillips (RAGNAROK). In the women’s race, The Queen set the tempo and demolished the field as Ann Knapp (KONA) won by over a minute as well.

Congrats also go to the second place riders in the Men and Women’s 1/2 races as Kevin Noiles (MASI-ADOBE) and Kelly Jones (SUGOI) finished 5th and 2nd respectively at Saturday’s BC Provincial Championships at Vancouver, BC’s Jericho Park.

The Seattle Cyclocross juggernaut takes a week off to re-group before descending on arguably the favorite stop on the circuit, Evergreen High School, on November 12th.
